WE GOT OUR BABY!
Jericho Wade Haskell was born at 1220 this morning by c-section! He weighs a whopping 9 lbs 1 oz and is 20 inches long. He has lots of dark hair and is absolutely perfect!
Yesterday I started having good labor contractions at 3pm, saw the Dr at my regular appointment at 430. I was only dilated to a 1 so he told me to go home and then to go to the hospital when the contractions became closer, or I couldn't stand it anymore. Well, by 7:00 we were at the hospital and I was panting away! Oh man, it hurt. Luckily I was dilated to a 4 by that time. Then I was moved to a labor room and by 9:00 I was dilated to an 8! Oh man, I wanted that epidural. I was crying and saying "I can't do this". Poor Wade was so patient with me and a great coach. When I got the epidural, I was still feeling the contractions, but I thought it just took a while to work. Not so. The epidural was in the wrong place and had to be re-done. By this time I was having contractions one on top of the other with no break. Crying and thinking the world was going to end I had to lie still while they tried the epidural again. Second time the catheter wouldn't thread so I had to lie there while they did it for a 3rd time. Oh my gosh I will never understand why anyone would ever want to go natural! I know that I could have never made it as a pioneer!! Finally the 3rd one worked and I was so grateful. After two hours and having my water broken, I had regressed to a 5. They said that my pelvis was too small and the baby wasn't moving down and because I had regressed I would need a c-section. So, it was off to the operating room. It went well, but was such a weird sensation and actually a little painful. Because I had meconium in my amniotic fluid there were lots of extra people around, and gratefully he came out perfectly with no complications! So we got our baby here, FINALLY and he couldn't be more perfect. His mom and dad think he is the cutest baby in the world and can't seem to stop kissing him and cuddling him. After all this time, I really can't believe he is actually here!
